A weekend of aikido with guest instructor: Okamoto Sensei (6th dan, Aikido Kyoto Dojo-cho)
Dates: November 18th, 19th and 20th, 2011.
Times: Friday 18:00 to 20:00, Saturday 10:00 to 16:00, Sunday 10:00 to 13:00.
Location: Meadowbank Stadium & Sports Centre 139 London Road, Edinburgh EH7 6AE.
Okamoto Sensei started aikido at the World Aikido Headquarters in Tokyo in 1977 with the First Doshu, Kissyomaru Ueshiba. She continued her studies in France with Christian Tissier Shihan from 1979 to 1981. On returning to Japan, Okamoto Sensei trained back at the World Headquarters, focussing on the late Yamaguchi Shihan and Shibata Shihan. In 1991, she established Portland Aikikai in Oregon, USA, assuming the role of Dojo-cho until her return to Japan in 2003. Currently, Okamoto Sensei teaches at Aikido Kyoto, which she founded in 2003 for the development of aikido in the Japanese and international community in Kyoto.
Aikido Kyoto has recently relocated to its own customized dojo in central Kyoto.
